Portrait of Eben Siyabalapitiya

Hi, I'm Eben Siyabalapitiya

Robotics · Engineering · Technology

I'm Eben, a developer and builder interested in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and automotive. I spend most of my time building things - whether that's training models, writing code that talks to hardware, designing parts in CAD, or putting together websites and projects from scratch. I'm into STEAM and I like working across different areas. Most of what I make sits somewhere between software and physical engineering, and a lot of it starts as just something I wanted to build in my free time.

Experience

Roles I've held and the work behind them.

Website Design & Development

2025 - Present

FIRST Robotics Team 2935 (NACI Robotics)

  • Leads the design, building, and maintenance of the team website - organizing pages and content so information is clear and easy to find.
  • Ensures the site works well on all devices and updates it regularly with new content.
  • Creates and edits videos and digital content to support team communication, outreach, and promotion.
  • Guides other team members in website-related tasks.

Mechanical CAD & System Design

2024 - Present

FIRST Robotics Team 2935 (NACI Robotics)

  • Creates 3D models of mechanical parts and full assemblies for the robot, designing parts so they fit correctly and can be built easily.
  • Updates and improves designs based on testing and feedback, working closely with fabrication members to turn digital designs into real parts.
  • Teaches and guides newer students in CAD and mechanical design - helping them plan, model, and build parts effectively.
  • Supports the overall mechanical design of the robot to make sure everything works together.
02

Mechanical Fabrication & Manufacturing

2024 - Present

FIRST Robotics Team 2935 (NACI Robotics)

  • Builds robot components using drills, drill presses, CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, and various power tools.
  • Turns CAD designs into real parts and prototypes, testing and refining them to make sure everything works properly.
  • Teaches and guides newer students on safe tool use, fabrication techniques, and how to bring designs to life.
  • Helps improve the robot by assembling and adjusting parts, ensuring the mechanical system runs smoothly and efficiently.
03

STEM Mentorship & Outreach

2023 - Present

Community · FLL Mentoring

  • Demonstrates STEM concepts and robotics projects to the community, showing how robots are designed, built, and operated.
  • Mentors younger students by introducing them to robotics - including FLL competitions - as a way to spark interest in STEM.
  • Guides students through hands-on learning: designing, building, and programming robots, and supports them during competitions.
  • Encourages youth to explore technology and engineering through interactive projects and team-based problem solving.
